"This collection is inspired by my hiking trip to the mountains of Austria. As a graduation present, my mother and I planned on going hiking in Austria. Unfortunately, due to Covid, we had to cancel/postpone it. This gave me the idea of bringing Austria to my studio instead. This collection features some animals we were hoping to see and some breathtaking Austrian Wildlfe."

Where to begin with the story behind this piece...
This red deer drawing is my very first original wildlife portrait, and because of that, it will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Deer themselves have always felt special to me. They are a local type of wildlife in a lot of countries and continents, including my town in Belgium. We don't see them often, but when you do, it feels nothing short of magical.
Enocuntering them asks something of you. You need to head out early in the morning or late in the evening, walk quietly through the fields or woods, and truly observe your surroundings. And then, all of the sudden, there the are. Standing silently in the field.
There is one encounter with deer that I will forever cherish. It was a late summer walk, still warm, with a light rain falling. We were out with the dog when I spotted them in the field, accompanied by a stag. Hearing them bark was an unforgettable moment. One that I will always carry with me, and be deeply grateful for
